Online poetry events: Poetry Picnic 9/7/25, Doctors can be poets too 14/1/25
So far in 2025, we have run two online poetry evenings, hearing from a line-up of doctor poets before throwing it open to our open-mic poets.
Here’s some of the lovely feedback we received:
'A warm and welcoming event, well-hosted, and a great range of poetry.'

'I loved listening to everybody's poem, and just basking in the energy.'

'Just beautiful poems- I was awestruck by so much amazing creativity I enjoyed the poems about work. Gave me a new perspective as I always think of my work and my creativity as two separate entities.'

Online art workshop: Draw to Unwind with Liz Atkin 23/9/25 & 4/11/25 & 2/12/25
We ran our first art workshop with artist Liz Atkin online on 23/9/25.

Participants were given the opportunity to refocus, relax and recharge with drawing to support mental wellbeing.

Here’s some of the lovely feedback we received:
'I felt more relaxed in my own environment'

'It helped me do something different today'
'I’d had a really busy, quite stressful day but it was remarkable how the time flew and how much I relaxed into it!

'That flow, focus, just making marks is a really good way to be mindful after a long day and feeling tired

'I really enjoyed the gentle guidance, the company despite it being online…you still feel part of something bigger…that’s quite grounding and reassuring when you’re trying something new.'
'I want to get back to more drawing and committing to this means I will actually'

At our 2nd workshop with Liz on 4/11/25 we had fun making some beautiful autumnal pictures using tea, coffee, pens and pencils.

At the 3rd workshop with Liz on 2/12/25 we were inspired by The Beautiful Brain, the drawings of Nobel Laureate Santiago Ramon y Cajal looking at brain cells, brain regions and neural circuits, before creating our own imaginative drawings.

We are hoping to run some more events with Liz in 2026 - keep your eyes on our events page for more information

Online poetry workshop: Autumn poetry reset 29/9/25 with Dr Kathleen Wenaden
We ran our first poetry workshop with GP Dr Kathleen Wenaden.

Kathleen brought 3 poems which were used as prompts for participants to write their own verse. During the workshop Kathleen encouraged participants to look back at the gifts of summer and forward to the promises of the autumn season and onwards.

Here’s some of the lovely feedback we received:

'It was a wonderful mix of listening to poetry and having time to write and reflect. Really beautiful poems chosen with thoughtful and poignant themes.'
'I am most interested in the poetry events as this is my area of creative interest. This was wonderful and such a lovely way to spend an hour and a half. The theme of autumn, hope and holding was v special. I will definitely be reflecting on. what I have written and rereading the poems. Thank you.'

Creativity Talks: 'Flourishing through Creative Enquiry'
with Prof Louise Younie 14/10/25
We had our first 'Creativity talks' event on 14th October 2025 with Dr Louise Younie, GP and Professor of Medical Education.

Louise talked to us about her work at Queen Mary's University, London where she leads on faculty development and innovation.

We learnt about the concept of creative enquiry - exploring our lived experience through the arts which has been found in medical education to nurture flourising spaces within the curriculum.

Online dance workshop with Dr Nirja Joshi 25/11/25
Nirja hosted a wonderful online dance workshop when we learnt a routine to Texas Hold 'Em by Beyonce.

It was wonderful to move to the music in our own homes!

We hope to have Nirja back to teach us again in 2026!
Online dance workshop with Dr Nirja Joshi 25/11/25
What a better way to spend a cold Thursday evening, than with the Creative Clinic community and a writing workshop that felt like a warm hug, a deep breath and a mini Fudge all rolled in to one!

GP and Writer Eleanor Holmes led us for a wonderful hour, with beautiful prompts based on writing from Samantha Harvey, Lucille Clifton and Beth Osmond.

We channelled our eight senses and took inspiration from our own special items or ‘desk treasures’ as one of our participants calls them. (Aruna’s was this drawing of Wendy Cope’s Orange, made by her son)

We hope Eleanor will join us for more workshops later in the year - watch this space!
